This page explains how to request deletion of your Boomerang account (developer: Samuel Wolfenden, Queensland, Australia). Both methods below permanently remove your personal data from our systems.
Method 1: Delete In-App (Instant)
If you still have the Boomerang app installed, this is the fastest option. Deletion is instant and requires no waiting period.
- Open the Boomerang app and sign in.
- Tap the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Data & Privacy section.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the two prompts. Your account is removed immediately.
Method 2: Request by Email
If you no longer have the app installed, email us from the address registered to your account:
- Email: boomerangborrowingapp@gmail.com
- Subject line: Delete My Account
- Include: the email address and (if you had one) the phone number registered to your account.
We process email deletion requests within 30 days of receipt and will confirm by reply when your data has been removed.
What Data Is Deleted
Both methods permanently remove the following from our servers:
- Your user account (email, phone number, name, username, password)
- All lending and borrowing records you created
- All item photos you uploaded
- All ratings and reviews you gave or received
- Push notification records associated with your account
- Subscription records tied to your account
- Password reset codes tied to your email
What Data Is Retained
We do not retain any personally identifiable information after your account is deleted. Two small exceptions:
- Anonymised references: If another Boomerang user recorded a loan or borrow that referenced your phone number, that record is kept (it belongs to the other user) but your phone number is stripped to
null so it can no longer be linked back to you. - Backups: Encrypted database backups may retain snapshots of your data for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are permanently overwritten.
App Store Subscription
Deleting your Boomerang account does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store or Google Play subscription. To cancel a subscription:
- iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Boomerang → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play Store → Menu → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Boomerang → Cancel.
